What is Laminate Veneer?

Laminate Veneers are very thin, structured porcelain laminated ceramics cemented on the forward-facing surfaces of teeth. It is also called porcelain laminate veneersleaf porcelain and leaf laminate. These are the surfaces framed by the lips and cheeks.

Usually, they can be applied without any need for the teeth to be prepared, however sometimes they require a 0.3 mm preparation of teeth. Porcelain laminate veneers are the perfect solution if you want to change the colour, shape or size of your teeth. They can also be used to close any gaps between your teeth or correct any defects. Although orthodontic treatment is a treatment that lasts for months or years according to some oral problems, the application of porcelain leaves saves time for the patients because a laminate application takes 7-8 days. Leaf porcelains are produced according to the mouth measurements of the person by devices in the laboratory environment.

Veneers vs Crowns

Many people wonder what the difference between veneers and crowns is. Veneers stick to the front of the tooth, whereas your dentist will put crowns around the entire tooth. The simple construction of crowns makes them far more durable, but your dentist will need to grind away more of your original tooth to put the crown on. Crowns protect your entire tooth from decay, unlike veneers, which are purely cosmetic for the most part.

Who is a Good Candidate For Veneers?

Simply you are a good candidate for veneers, if you are dissatisfied with your smile. Veneers can give you a massive confidence boost and a smile that you can be proud of.  Before choosing veneers, you should look at all their options:

Teeth with large chunks missing may be better suited for Crowns,

Crooked or uneven teeth may require braces before veneer treatment,

Teeth with decay, gum disease, or any other issues must be treated before applying veneers,

Veneers can be damaged by persons who often clenches or grinds their teeth as a habit.

How is Laminate Veneer Applied?

Laminate Veneer application, known as leaf laminate, is a method used to provide an aesthetic appearance to the person. Whether there is pain during the procedure, how many days it will take, and the most important question is “How is laminate applied?” is the question. The answers to these questions can be listed as follows;

At Dental Excellence Turkey, the process to have porcelain veneers placed takes 3 appointments. The first appointment is your consultation and mock-up, showing a general picture of what your end results will be like. During the mock-up process, you can share your wishes and expectations with your doctor.

The second appointment is to actually prepare your teeth and place temporary veneers on. After preparing your teeth, Impressions are taken and porcelain laminate veneers in accordance with the impressions are started to be prepared in the laboratory. This preparation time takes 2-3 days.

The third appointment is when your final, custom-made veneers will be placed. The porcelain laminate veneers are attached to the tooth with a special cement which is activated and hardened using ultraviolet light. After the above applications are made on your teeth, you can have an aesthetic smile with leaf porcelain within 5-7 days in total.

How long is the life of Porcelain Laminates?

With dental veneers, several factors can affect the lifespan of the veneer. Porcelain Lamina application is a very delicate technique. Requires good clinical and laboratory work. The physician and dental technician must have full technical knowledge and visual skills on this subject.

Good oral hygiene really matters. Twice-daily brushing and daily flossing are crucial to prolonging the lifespan of veneers. It’s also important to have dental check-ups and cleanings every 6 months.

Don’t use your teeth to try and open objects that you can’t open with your hands or other tools. Avoid biting down on foods like hard candies, ice, or nuts.

If you play a contact sport, be sure to wear a mouthguard to protect your veneers from chipping or breaking.

Grinding your teeth can put excessive pressure on your veneers. If you’re prone to grinding your teeth when you sleep, wear a nighttime mouthguard to protect your veneers.

If they are made with the right technique and appropriate equipment the lifespan of a veneer typically lasts anywhere from 10 to 15 years.

Do Laminate Veneers Hurt?

Porcelain veneers are one of the most conservative treatments we have in dentistry. Local injections are recommended just because everyone’s sensitivity level varies. In the many cases We have done over the years, patients are very comfortable since most of the preparation of the tooth is at gum level and not below. Therefore, with proper temporaries and hygiene, the gum tissue should not get sore nor do the teeth get sensitive.

Do Veneers Cause Sensitive Teeth?

The short answer is no. Any tooth sensitivity you experience is a result of having a thin layer of your enamel removed at the beginning of the process. If you experience any sensitivity from this, it will be temporary and minimal.

Who performs veneers?

The procedure can be performed by cosmetic dentist. Alternatively, they may refer you to a qualified prosthodontist. Prosthodontics is a specialized dentist who uses artificial substitutes to restore or replace natural teeth and tissues. In order to become a qualified prosthodontist, a dentist must complete a university post graduate program in prosthodontics.

What is a Full Set of Veneers?

Most people would like veneers for visible teeth only and will choose to veneer the top set of teeth, although some will come back for the bottom set too.

We take each case on its merits and if we can achieve great results with mild cases for a couple of teeth, that’s what we will recommend. The current smile line will show us how many teeth might need veneers.
