Antalya is not just a sunny city with the sea and beaches. You definitely have to visit Kaleici \u2013 the historical and very famous district in Antalya, which takes in Hadrian\u2019s Gate, Hidirlik Tower, Yivli Minaret, Kesik Minaret, and Kaleici with its narrow streets and historical houses and the ancient port. All are within an area of one square kilometre, which you can walk on foot through.<\/p>\n

You can visit Kaleici at all hours of the day, but the best time of visit is towards the evening. Many of the historical houses and mansions of Kaleici have been restored and a lot of them are being used as hotels, pensions, bars and shops.<\/p>\n

The old town of Antalya, which has witnessed the history since ancient times, takes travellers to the past with its houses, narrow streets, with traces of Greek, Seljuk and Ottoman architecture. Antalya\u2019s historical cove, Kaleici is encircled by two fortified walls and crowned by a yacht harbour in the shape of a half-circle.<\/p>\n

The streets of Kalei\u00e7i are full of shops with different souvenirs, handmade products, Turkish delights where you will be always welcomed.<\/p>\n

Plenty of hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs here are always ready to provide for their visitors famous \u2018\u2019Turkish hospitality\u2019\u2019 and high-class service.<\/p>\n

There are also many cafeterias, bars and restaurants where, except for delicious food and drinks, you can enjoy a beautiful sea view.<\/p>\n

Life in the nighttime doesn\u2019t stop here either. You can get carried away by the music emanating from the side streets, enjoy a drink or dance in bars and restaurants with live music and they are all open until late.<\/p>\n

Everybody in Antalya knows about Kalei\u00e7i, so you can easily reach this lovely place very easy: by the local bus or by taxi.<\/p>\n

Ancient city of Perge<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Perga<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0Perge<\/strong>\u00a0was an ancient\u00a0Greek city in Anatolia, once the capital of\u00a0Pamphylia Secunda<\/a>, now in\u00a0Antalya Province<\/a>. Today, it is a large site of ancient ruins 15 kilometres east of\u00a0Antalya<\/a>\u00a0on the coastal plain. An\u00a0acropolis<\/a>\u00a0located there dates back to the\u00a0Bronze Age<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ancient Perge is famous for the fact that when Saint Paul started his journeys, he visited Perge in 46 AD. and preached his first sermon here. That is why it became an important city for Christians during the Byzantine period.<\/p>\n

Social and cultural buildings reflecting the majesty of the Perge Ancient City are the necropolis, theatre, city walls, stadium, gymnasium, Roman baths, rectangular planned agora, high towers, monumental fountains, column lined streets, Greek and Roman gates.<\/p>\n

Archaeological Site of Perge, which was included on the\u00a0UNESCO Tentative List<\/a>\u00a0in 2009, is one of the outstanding universal values of Turkey.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019T\u00fcnektepe\u2019\u2019 Cable Car<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u2018\u2019T\u00fcnektepe\u2019\u2019 cable car is one more enjoyable thing in Antalya, whose visitors will be at an altitude of 605 m. You can enjoy an amazing Antalya panorama as in the cable car\u2019s waggon, also already being on the top. The cable car is open every day except Mondays. It consists of a total of 36 wagons, can reach 1,706 meters, from Sar\u0131su to T\u00fcnektepe. It also can carry 1,200 people per hour.<\/p>\n

On the top point, you can have some drink or snack, you can relax in the shadow and enjoy the unforgettable view of Antalya city by looking at the sea from the one side and the mountains from the other.<\/p>\n

Antalya Museum<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The\u00a0Antalya Museum is one of\u00a0the largest museums in Turkey, located in\u00a0Konyaalt\u0131<\/a>,\u00a0Antalya<\/a>. It includes 13 exhibition halls and an open-air gallery. It covers an area of 7,000\u00a0m2<\/sup>\u00a0(75,000\u00a0sq\u00a0ft) and 5000 works of art are exhibited. In addition, a further 25,000\u201330,000 artefacts which cannot be displayed are in storage.\u00a0As a museum exhibiting examples of works, which illuminate the history of the\u00a0Mediterranean<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Pamphylia<\/a>\u00a0regions in Anatolia, Antalya Museum is one of the most important of Turkey\u2019s museums. The Museum won the \u201cEuropean Council Special Prize\u201d in 1988.<\/p>\n

Beaches of Antalya<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Antalya is well-known as tourist place with thousand of hotels from pension to 5 stars hotels, and of course beaches with crystal clear water.<\/p>\n

Two of the most famous and long beaches in Antalya city are\u00a0Lara Beach<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Konyalti beach<\/strong>, which are public and located in different parts of Antalya.<\/p>\n

Konyalti Beach<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This public pebble beach with a length of around 7 km and a width of 70 meters. There are paid and free sections on the beach. Moreover, there is a park just near the beach with an area for some sports activities. There are also cafes in the parking zone.<\/p>\n

Many hotels in Antalya are located on Lara Beach \u2013 the most popular coastal resort. The long coastline 3500 m long and up to 30 m wide is located 18 km from the city centre.<\/p>\n

The non-hotel area of sandy Lara Beach is public with plenty of beach clubs, located not far from each other.<\/p>\n

It is very easy to get there by local bus.<\/p>\n

Except for these two huge beaches, there are many other public beaches with a free entrance with some additional charges for sunbeds and umbrellas or other services.<\/p>\n

Most of them are built between cliffs.<\/p>\n
