    What are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers are mainly used for cosmetic purposes, to improve the shape, size and colour of patients teeth. We can classify dental veneers as laminate veneers and full veneers. Full veneer in other words dental crown; a porcelain “crown” covering all surfaces of the tooth. Laminate veneer, on the other hand, is a thin layer that covers only the facial surface of the tooth and is generally used for aesthetic purposes. These typically have better performance and aesthetics and are less plaque retentive. In this article we will answer frequently asked questions about laminate veneers, and you can find also detailed information about dental crown from this article.

    1. Laminate Veneer Preparation

Laminate veneers are very thin and are bonded on the front of your natural front teeth. Laminate veneers are also called dental veneers. Dental veneers are about 0.3-0.5 mm in thickness and are very strong with a life-like appearance. Since they are very thin, Laminate veneers are considered one of the most conservative cosmetic treatments available. Most of the time, very little or no tooth structure is removed before placing dental veneers. Because they are highly durable yet thin, very little tooth structure is taken away which leaves the procedure almost stress-free for the patient.

In Dental Excellence Turkey, We use high quality Porcelain material to provide you with strong, long-lasting Laminate Veneers that are resistant to cracks and breaks. We use  IPS e.max Press that is the most popular e.max brand. IPS e.max Press is a legendary lithium disilicate glass-ceramic for the laminate veneer. IPS e.max Press are particularly attractive, showing a lifelike colour transition. The results look very natural, regardless of the shade of the prepared tooth.

1.1 How many visits are required for veneers?

During the first appointment, the tooth is contoured and a precise impression is taken of the tooth. The impression is then sent to our in-house lab to be processed. Manufactured in our own laboratory, veneers are tailored for each patient, providing a white and natural perfect smile. The finished veneer is then cemented onto the tooth. Any adjustments are then made. The entire process usually involves two appointments in 6 days.

1.2 Is it an invasive or painful treatment?

Not at all, nowadays porcelain veneers are getting thinner, so tooth carving is minimal. It is a simple treatment, fast and without pain.

1.3 What maintenance do the veneers need?

Porcelain veneers require the same maintenance as natural teeth. They are made of a material that is not affected by cavities but they are attached to a part of the tooth which is vulnerable to decay, so is always recommended good oral hygiene based on tooth brushing 3 times a day and the use of dental floss, once a day.

    1.4 Are porcelain veneers vulnerable?

Like natural teeth, we should avoid strong impacts like aggressive bites or blows with objects. As with natural teeth, enamel can crack as a result of biting hard food, nail-biting, or tightening the teeth. In the veneers, it will cause cracks in the ceramic that if deepened can cause a fracture. Porcelain veneers, unlike those of composite, is that they cannot be repaired and have to be replaced.

    2. Dental Veneers vs Lumineers – What’s the Difference?

Lumineer is a brand of porcelain veneers. Lumineers are just like standard porcelain veneers, but much thinner (which is why they require less prep work). The main reason they are popular is because they require little or no prep work.

The main advantage of getting Lumineers is that don’t require surface preparation as Laminate veneers. If they’re not shaped by a professional cosmetic dentist, Lumineers can result in a less-than-perfect looking smile.

The biggest disadvantage is that the thinner construction causes less durability over time. Since Lumineers are thinner, they are more vulnerable to the harsh effects of chewing hard foods and grinding their teeth. To get the maximum life out of your Lumineers, you must be extremely careful in caring for them.

The cosmetic dentists of Dental Excellence Turkey can help you determine whether Lumineers or porcelain veneers are the more suitable choice. To make the right decision, it’s necessary to evaluate your tooth alignment, budget, and long-term goals.

    3. Dental Veneers VS Dental Crowns- What’s the Difference?

Dental veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain about 0.5 millimeter (mm) in thickness, that’s bonded to the front of your existing tooth. Veneers are used mainly for cosmetic enhancement. Dental crown is about 1.5 mm in thickness and covers the whole tooth. If you have lost 50%-60% of your tooth structure because of decay, trauma or other reasons, we choose the crowns for your treatment. As we know that the enamel is the strongest matter in the body, and we know that once this enamel is damaged or lost, it means that the remaining part is the most breakable part of the tooth. A crown replaces all of the lost enamel. So, it is like replacing the tooth itself.

    4. Why Should I Have Veneers in Turkey?

We receive many questions: ‘’Why should I have treatment in Turkey? Will it be more or less expensive than in my country? Will it be the really good quality of done work or will I have troubles after and will have to go to my dentist to fix that and many other similar questions. So why should you come to Turkey to get your new smile?

Comparing to UK, Europe or even the USA, the costs of living and labour in Turkey are lower. Nevertheless, the quality of used materials and technologies are high. The high-grade materials, top brand technologies and FDA approved materials that are used in the UK and Europe are also used for dental treatment in Turkey.
