Wisdom Teeth Treatment Turkey

In wisdom tooth extraction, if the oral tissues are still healthy, the tooth is extracted by giving local anesthesia and there is no difference from normal tooth extractions.

However, if there is a condition such as an abscess or infection in the mouth, the treatment of the infection in the area takes a few days and the treatment with painkillers and antibiotics is planned first. After individual’s mouth become healthy, the tooth is extracted with local anesthesia.

Before and during tooth extraction, the location of the tooth is checked with panoramic x-rays. In this way, the possibility of potential damage of the surrounding tissues is minimized. The surgery starts with making an incision in the gum tissue to expose the tooth and bone. And then continues with removing bone that blocks access to the tooth root. When it is necessary, the maxillofacial surgeon divides the tooth into sections to make it easier to remove. The procedure ends with, cleaning the site of the removed tooth of any debris from the tooth or bone.

Should All Wisdom Teeth Removed?

There is no such thing as the removal of all wisdom teeth. However, every individual should go for a check-up at the time of wisdom teeth eruption and be examined to see if their teeth will cause a complication. In this way, wisdom teeth, which may cause a health problem with a high probability, can be removed in a pre-controlled manner, without causing a problem yet.

What Should Be Considered After Wisdom Teeth Removal?

After the operation is completed, stitches are placed in the mouth if necessary and a tampon is applied to the area to reduce bleeding. The tampon should remain in the mouth for the first 30 minutes. It is then removed and the tampon is not replaced even if bleeding continues.

Otherwise, putting a new tampon will increase the risk of infection in the area. It is normal for bleeding to continue for 2-3 hours, sometimes more, during this period. Actions such as spitting, brushing teeth, rinsing water in the mouth are behaviors that should be avoided as they may increase bleeding and prevent it from stopping.

It is forbidden to consume any food or beverage for the first 2 hours, as the effect of the anesthesia has not passed yet. Mouth injuries may occur because the sensation in the tissues has not yet returned. In addition, foods that require hard and long chewing for a few days should be avoided.

The area should not be checked with any object, tongue or fingers. Such behavior can lead to infection and increased bleeding.

You should not sleep for the first 2 hours after the operation. It is recommended to use a high pillow in the first days while sleeping.

Smoking should be avoided for the first 24 hours after the procedure. Similarly, alcohol consumption should be avoided for the first 7-10 days. Otherwise, various complications may develop.
